Meta tags define in heading section of html and is not executed code it is just give the idea of your web page to search engines basically it is data about your actual data

There is many types of meta tags end each play different role but we will discuss the most important one for SEO and indexing .

Some example of types of meta tag

• meta description 

• meta copyright

• meta author 

According to my recent experience i notice that meta keyword is not playing much role before some time meta keyword is the only tags where search engine searches for searched keyword but now a days your hole page is recognize or sorted by search engine for keyword .

Meta keyword used to mention your keywords like properties on sell, properties for rent etc

correct way of Meta Description can increase your chance of indexing by 60%

This is most important now a days so what is meta description basically it is just a brief description about your web page like what is about your page or what this page shows to you target people or what it is offering .

When you are defining meta description keep in mind that it should be of moderate length don't make it too long or too  short the average meta words is 30.

According to my recent experience with search engine i would say mention your keyword in description only .

And your description should be related to your page.

When search engine index your page the description come under your link .
